This blog is a summary of the progress of the building of an N scale layout representing Strathalbyn station and yards in South Australia. The era being modelled is the 1960s. The Aus-moN free form modular system was chosen as the basis for construction. Besides operational use, the layout is also suitable for display. As Strathalbyn station is still in use today by tourist trains of SteamRanger, a swap era may be considered to add variety. (by the Southern N Scale Modellers informal group)

First Public Display
The first public display was held at the Miniature & Model Railway Show which was part of the events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the National Railway Museum. This was held on the 14th & 15th September at the museum's location in Port Adelaide. The layout was exhibited as a display by Southern N Scale Modellers.
Although the layout was displayed as a work in progress, all tracks were operational and trains were running. Both completed and part-completed structures were on display. Structures were built by various members of the team. Many thanks to Stuart, Greg, Mark, Rodney and Peter for their work and support for the project to date.
Additional modules for Strathalbyn (namely, the Bridges module and the Mill & Silos module) are currently under construction by other members in the team.
If there is sufficient interest from other modellers, Mt Barker, Goolwa, Victor Harbor, etc modules could be made and to hence have combined running at, say, a 'Fleurieu Peninsular Railway' Meet. A diagram of a possible combination of some individual modules to do this may be perused at - fleurieu-peninsula-railway.blogspot.com.au
